Look at this “340i” badge! Why no !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Oh, and look at you, of course you have Morelos plates on that little !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
BMW 340i; the official car of confusing twin scroll turbo with Twin Turbo.
I normally don´t give a shit, but there was a lot of traffic and I had nothing better to do. than complain to the internet.

In this case, I think you’re just stupid.

If you want to debadge your parent’s cars, that’s fine, but getting worked up over the badges on the back of 99.99999% of cars seems silly. Do you also peel the labels off of your bottles of beer so that people can’t tell what you’re drinking?

It is silly, I know, I really just dislike them. But I normally don´t give a crap about them. it was more about the car being registered in Morelos, which is a form of tax evasion here.
come to think of it, I probably should get that off my mind too, because more and more cars are being registered there nowadays.
And no... I peel labels off beer bottles when the conversations start becoming boring around the bar.
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

You’re not seriously telling me that you get annoyed every time someone doesn’t take the badges off of their car? Because that’s dumb.

someone asked the same thing and this is the answer:

With the tax evasion thing I can at least understand your frustration. But getting irritated every time you see a car with a badge on it doesn’t do anything other than put you in a bad mood.

I have never debadged any of my MBs, and I don’t plan to. As long as it isn’t a 316i or something rebadged, I don’t see the issue.
My E proudly wears its Bluetec badge, and debadging the fintail would be criminal.

I think that you’re right, the real issue is with rebadging a 316i with an m3 badge or something like that (which many people do...)
I dislike badges personally, but I see why you’d want to keep it in a classic benz and I understand you don’t dislike yours.
My real focus is that this guy can afford a 340i but can’t afford the taxes on it, which I find laughable.

I can understand ire at the tax evasion. In my area, they either register it to a “business”, or buy a Tesla which has massive tax incentives undeserved by a vehicle with such an MSRP. Having plates that virtually announce the shady dealings seems like it might make one a target. That’s the best part, he can afford the taxes - he just doesn’t think he has to pay them, and has a government complicit with his greed.
In Europe, people debadge to hide their low spec engine. It’s a very uncommon thing in Murka.

I mean, I understand registering in Estado de Mexico (and since my grandparents live there, we sometimes do that) because one might be angry at all the wasted money by the state in their dumb budgets and corrupt accounts...but Morelos is too much for me.
I’d just swallow the hit and register here in Mexico City, with all its downsides and upsides.

Come to think of it, a similar scam has existed here too. Counties around Seattle have much higher registration fees, to fund transit development (because the clueless “me” generation failed to put it in motion 35 years ago and now it will cost 100x as much). Some people will register their cars with relatives in outlying areas - which might save several hundred dollars a year. However, I think the state can ask for proof of address at their discretion, and I suspect failing to produce it might lead to a fraud charge, so it might not be worth the risk.
I find it funny that the reaction to corruption or waste is cheating, usually by people with more than enough money to pay their bills anyway.
